Crossword Puzzles and My Mother

I enjoy doing crossword puzzles. Despite dabbling in the Ipad NY Times version, my preference is the old fashioned method using a pen and the daily newspaper. Each time I do a crossword puzzle, I think of my mother. I would visit her on the way home from work and she would make me a cup of tea and we’d work together on her incomplete puzzle. If I solved one of the missing words, she gasped “Oh jeezus!” from the obvious solution. She was highly intelligent and fastidious and hated not being able to finish what she started.

Remembering Mom.
