The Return to New England’s Cold

We took the long trek from our home in Florida earlier this week. We finished the ride in two days and it was a grind. A fierce rain storm made driving the last four hours from southern New Jersey through New York City a harrowing experience. I hope spring blossoms early this year. In the past few years winter conditions have lingered longer than usual.

I sold one of my cameras to a good friend Kendra Ferreira today. We met in Colt Park and I worked to get her up to speed on using the camera. I am excited to see Kendra’s work. She is an accomplished artist, working primarily in water colors and colored pencils. Her talent will surely translate well to the art of photography. She has an interest in capturing bird life and perhaps I will have a shooting companion for birding forays. Working with her brought to mind how much I enjoy teaching photography. It is something I want to do in the transition to a quieter less pressurized life.

We spent some time at the boatyard, and she enjoyed the colorful buoys there, something I enjoy capturing also. I then visited a dear friend in hospital recovery, and while in Newport visited Castle Hill Light. It was a cold and blustery day.

I was in a black and white mood today.
