Back in high school my old friend Joe Morenzi had a Dodge Dart. None of us had new or fancy cars then. They were a means to ends like getting to work flipping burgers, doing Friday night joy rides and teenage moon-lit love fests. I think Joe’s Dart was white. My grandfather also drove one. It looked the part of a funeral home car with its all black paint and spartan interior. Owning this Dart would have been the bomb for a young insecure teenager like me, catapulting me to popularity and temporal fame. What a beautiful automobile! Alas, I drove my Dad’s hand me down Ford Galaxy 500 with body damage from my father backing it into a telephone pole. It was not pretty but it served me well.

You had a dart, I had a beloved 63 vw bug. I loved that car- it either had baking hot heat or no heat- the windshield always had frost since there was no defroster as we know them today. Thanks for the memory!
Hah! I had a 66 bug. The driver seat broke and I sat on a milk crate. One night with an overstuffed (with people) ride into Newport a power grid blackout happened along the way. I hit a pothole and my lights went kaput and my windshield wipers would not go off!
