Yes, another title based on a song from the Beatles. Damn, I loved and love the Beatles!
I am an avid listener of the Photowalk podcast. It is joyful, and an eye opener to the minds of true artists, and the gift of photography and travel. I am not keen on entering calls as a rule, but this week’s “word” theme for submissions to Neal, the group founder, is “Relic”. Loving old things, I have decided to give it a go. I haven’t made an image that resonates yet. Today, I took this image of some old objects that I believe are shoe maker’s patterns. Reviewing this humble image made me understand how the meaning of and purpose for my photography is changing. The objects in this image are not just wooden shoe relics. To me, they are carefully crafted objects from long ago that now sit in an antique yard, deteriorating from exposure to the sun and the rain. These utilitarian hand crafted objects will in time return to the soil from where they came.
