Lomo 400 Color ’92, 35mm

Some of my scans of film images hard to distinguish from full on digital images. Film images made with Lomo 400 Color ’92 don’t harbor that distinction. Lomo set out to create a retro vibe with this film and it was mission accomplished. It is a very frustrating stock. Shadows and colors can be muddy, and there is pronounced grain. I have now shot this film stock in 35mm (using a Canonet and a Leica) and 120mm (using a Mamiya 7ii) and in subdued late day light and harsh light . My results with 35mm have been better. When does this film make sense? If a harsh, color shifting, grainy look is what you are after. Perhaps it would work for a rock concert in a darkened setting. I do like the Fox Point shot. It has a cool retro feel.
