I arranged a photo walk with Butch Lombardi and Tom Willett for this morning with the goal of capturing bird life. The plan went afoul for a few reasons. First, there was an ultra type road race going on where the runners (and walkers) churn continuously for 24 hours, the goal of some being to achieve 100 miles of foot time. Needless to say, the birds along the trail we walked, which doubled as part of the race course, did not take kindly to the intense human presence. As I learned from Butch, bird life is not active this time of year as preparation is ongoing for a southerly migration. At times, there was no sound in the forest aside from the trample of feet. I took a few black and white photos in the forest then on the way home I stopped near Bristol Harbor and made a few captures there, including one of an osprey. Then I went to the Mount Hope Farm Farmer’s market for a coffee and some water. In spite of the thwarted intent, we enjoyed a wonderful walk with great conversation. Thank you Butch and Tom for getting me out of bed at an ungodly early hour and for our time together. I think I need to become more of an early riser!
