Fall is here , bestowing earth tone colors and crisp air that makes it wonderful. I took this image outside of a shop where I purchased an Irish-made hat last week. I told the owners how much I love the hat.
Wearing this hat makes me think of my Mom. Mom had a hard life and was quite troubled from the trauma of childhood. The scars were indelible. She was fiercely Irish and the epitome of an Irish woman. She was freckle-faced and innocently beautiful. She had a razor sharp mind and intense pride. Mom struggled to accept and give affection.
My father was Portuguese and dark skinned. I bear my mother’s Irish skin and feel Mom’s Irish in my bones.
I scheduled a June 6, 2025 meet-up of fellow members of the Film Shooters Collective. The group is blessed with talented film photographers from the world over. The response has been good with a few photographers from New Zealand as possibles. We will meet in the Portland Oregon area. The area has ocean, river, mountain and street photography opportunities. It will be great to interact with such talented photographers, learning about their lives and talking photography shop. I sense we will mesh well from the common bond of loving film photography.
Go to the Collective’s web page to experience the work of the Collective’s members. The link is below. In the bottom right hand corner of the page is an image I made of Hazel.

My friend Karlene Herdman and I had images featured in the same of FSC Journal call for entry. That was rad!
Hurricane Milton made a direct hit on the coast of Venice where my Florida home is located. Thankfully, no damage occurred to our inland home. The devastation inflicted on many in the region is difficult to process. Resilience is the order of days there.
