The Leica M8 Color Party Continues, and Chatting With Nick a Young Film Enthusiast

Shooting this wonderful old camera has given me a jolt of enthusiasm. These images are straight from the camera, with only minor adjustments to exposure. The combination of this beautiful sensor and the Leica 35mm Summilux is blissful. The image making process is fueled by the prospect of brilliant filmic colors. I can’t get enough of it.

The photowalk began with a chat on the sidewalk with a colleague. He was on his way to play a game of chess on the river bridge. All conversations with this man, who has a very elastic mind, meander into unexpected things. What started as an analysis of American cash hoarding tax cheats evolved into the black hold called Donald Trump. I seized on the opening when he paused to take a breath and went on my way. This fascinating man emigrated to the US from Korea after serving in the armed services there. He is now a successful tax attorney. I admire him.

A walk along the river revealed a beautiful scene of a man reading his book. I then took in the chess match. I met a nice man named Nick who was shooting a Canonet QL XVII. We got to chatting about my See the World With Victoria project. It was nice to meet this young film enthusiast and talk film shop. Nick, if you are reading this keep shooting film!

I completed the great circle by crossing the river in the fading light.

It was a very good night.
