I took some photos in the yard of an antique shot owned by Richard Kazarian. I chatted with Richard for a bit and learned about the business of selling antique and vintage things. Dealers scout finds for him based on Richard’s genre to enliven the collection. I learned there is a dealer in Newport who has large statues made in China that replicate grand creations from the golden age. The buyers for these things are, curiously, owners of megadomes in Texas. I love photographing old things, especially when they are truly old. The survival and beauty of such things in the context of artistic expression is what draws me in.
