The light was diffused today and it seemed like a good day to head to the sea to capture the fury Hurricane Erin is casting on the New England shore. When I left Bristol the harbor was calm, but the winds and currents were furious at Lloyd’s Beach. The waves were intense and engulfed Sakonnet Light a few times and I was fortunate to capture a good image of that. There were several photographers on the beach with long bulky lenses, and I was happy to have my tiny Olympus M4/3 kit. I sat between two rocks to stabilize myself for back support and stability. My spot was very far back from the breaking waves, but one particularly big wave bled into my seat, immersing my pants and shoes in seawater.
I thoroughly enjoyed as afternoon away from the hustle and bustle of my life. It was fun to capture the gulls and geese wafting through the scene.
As a treat, I met Angie Chilabato, a fellow photographer there and we had a chat. The conditions were so good light-wise that Angie quipped “If I don’t get the shot today, I never will.”

Amazing photos Lou! I know Angie & I follow her on FB. She takes amazing bird photos too.
Great photos Lou
