THANKFULLY NO!!!!!

My challenges with the photographic journey continued today. The plan was to again visit Sachuest Wildlife Refuge to capture streaming water against the jagged coastline. The wind was favored, from the east, but it was not enough to create the dramatic effects I was looking for. More importantly, my beloved Nikon D850 began displaying a flashing ERR message. I tried resetting her, removing the battery, changing the lens. Nothing worked. This camera has been an absolute joy to use, and I am so familiar with the controls it is like an extension of my eyes. A web search advised the camera needs to be sent in for service. I will send it to Nikon USA but fear the cost of repair will not be warranted. Hopefully it is because I would truly hate to lose this incredible photographic tool. What will I do if it is not economically repairable? I will have to make an important call on whether to buy a used D850, always a crapshoot, or migrate to the Z system. For the latter, it will be a spur to sell a heap of my collected photographic gear, something I have been agonizing over for a long time. In any event, before the camera stopped working, it sent me off with a few images shot with a red filter on the great 24-70 lens. I was unknowingly shooting in square format and left the images as they were made.
POSTSCRIPT. After meandering around the internet I tried the suggestion to hold down the shutter button while turning the camera on. It worked!!! Hopefully this is not symptomatic of a repeated issue. For now, all is right with my world!!

phew what a relief, decisions for another day!
