I went to Ale House Cigar near my office after leaving work tonight. I flubbed, knocking a dried coconut jar on the bar edge to a shattering end. I have never broken a coconut jar before. I can’t get the song “Put the Lime in the Coconut” out of my head now. Damn! The song reminds me of a talk by May Pang in Fall River, Massachusetts. May spoke of life in Los Angeles with John Lennon. Cavorting with Harry Nillson was a mind bending experience.
Before and after the Ale House smoke I wandered around the City with my Leica M8. It is a lovingly quirky 10 megapixel camera in 2/3 full frame format. My 35mm lens was making tight frames akin to a 50. The shutter wheezes like the sound of an emphatic “jeeeeeeeez”. The picture lazily writes to the card. This camera is not for birds in flight! The “play” button works intermittently. The camera stubbornly freezes up, fixed by removing and replacing the battery. The menu system is Leica simple. Antiquities aside, the colors made from this old girl are sex and drugs and rock and roll!
