And Bob’s Your Uncle

I shot these pictures in Wickford, RI harbor. I was in a funk, having just spent a lot of time shooting a roll of Kodak TriX only to find there was no film in the camera! The disappointment was magnified because I know I framed some interesting shots in a sculpture garden. Turning to the images, they make it clear that fishing is a hard life, and this hardship breeds sardonic twists. Nice wood, nice rope, and Bob’s your uncle. I could not frame it properly, but I found an old wooden chair with a split seat seam that was masterfully repaired with marlinspike twine wrap.

My D850 is being repaired, so after developing this film I scanned with the Nikon D500. It is not ideal because the camera will not permit 1:1 aspect ratio, leading to crops to square. I am not a fan of developing color film, but use of a rotary processor makes things at least tolerable. Most of the Blix leaked out of the tank and I was afraid the roll was ruined, but the leak must have happened late in the process. Blix is not to be fooled with. It is nasty stuff. Thankfully I had a towel under the tank.
